Here are the official rules for the Ambigram.Com Ambigram Challenge (ACAC).

Judging and Governance

  1. Ambigram.com, its associated judging panel and guest judges (if any) shall be responsible for rendering all judgments with respect to the ambigram challenges.
  2. A diversified judging panel shall ensure fair and balanced treatment of all designs, without favoritism or prejudice.
  3. All decisions rendered by the judging panel are final

Acceptance

  1. Each ambigram design submission should be related to the topic of the challenge.  Topic relevance shall be determined by the ACAC judging panel.
  2. There are many types of ambigrams.  The ACAC is primarily interested in the most common types of ambigrams:
    • Rotational
    • Reflected (AKA “mirror ambigrams”)
    • Figure-ground
    • Chain / Circle
    • Perceptual shift / oscillation
    • Multi-lingual
  3. There is no guarantee that all designs will be selected for display. If we receive a significant number of entries in a particular challenge, the field of entries may be truncated due to space considerations. The top entries will always be displayed.

Submission Details

  1. All ambigram designs should be attached to an email message and sent to
  2. Ambigram designs should be in final form, and should be uncompressed, or minimally compressed in JPG, GIF or PNG format.  Designs may be resized or compressed for publication.
  3. All design submissions should be 600 pixels wide and 600 pixels high or larger, at 72 dpi or higher.
  4. You should include your full name and web site URL (preferably to your ambigram gallery, if you have one). This information will be published for all designs chosen for display.
  5. You should include one or two paragraphs about your ambigram: your word selection, design decisions, challenges, etc. This information will be posted along with your design if your design is selected as the contest winner.

Deadlines

  1. All submissions should be emailed by midnight on the date due for consideration in the contest.
  2. Deadline exceptions shall be made on a case-by-case basis, preferably with prior arrangement.

Payments, Awards and Prizes

  1. Some challenges may offer monetary incentives, and/or prizes for the contest winner. This may vary significantly from challenge to challenge.
  2. All liabilities regarding such awards or prizes (such as disclosures, registrations or tax reporting) shall be the responsibility of the recipient.
